Kiddo

Kiddo was playing with a friend yesterday by a fire that was close by. A rock flew out of the fire and Kiddo went to pick it up :( His four finger tips on his writing hand have 2nd degree burns :(

He screamed and cried for a couple of hours. I didn't know what to do. We put his hand under cool water, that wasn't helping. We put burn ointment from the 1st aid kit, that wasn't helping. He soaked his hand in a bowl of cool water, nothing. He put his hand in front of the a/c, nothing. We wrapped them, still nothing. I did magic spells on each finger, nothing. I put magic wiki sticks over the bandages, nothing. Poor Kiddo was still in pain.

As a last resort I thought, if I could just make him laugh!

I pulled up youtube and in the search bar typed funny videos. He crawled up on my lap and for two hours we watched people falling, people making funny faces, kids pulling pranks on their parents, and other funny stuff. The pain went away with the laughter. Yay, it worked!

The pain had gone away and he felt so much better. Today his fingers are blistered but he isn't hurting. There shouldn't be any long term damage, it really wasn't that bad, just hurt REAL BAD!

Oh by the way, I did call the Dr. in the mess of things yesterday and described what had happened and what the burns looked like, he said the ER wasn't necessary which is why we tried to take care of it at home. Luckily, laughter was the key :)

I did have to write a note to his teacher explaining that if he couldn't write it was understandable!
